Motherhood: Live a life worthy of it

Moms…

Was yesterday a bad day? It was for me. Really, bad isn’t the word. Terrible? Nope, still doesn’t fit. Anyway, you get the picture.

Don’t dwell on it. Pray. Repent.

Repent at my rebuke!  Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,  I will make known to you my teachings. (Proverbs 1:23)

Hug the sleepy little one that just shuffled down the hall to sit with you on the couch. Write a scripture or two on your hand, and pour a cup of coffee.

Look at your children and remember your calling. Motherhood.

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. (Ephesians 4:1)

Live your life today worthy of that calling.
Live a life worthy of the children God blessed you with.
Live a life worthy of the hugs and laughter.
Live a life worthy of the tears.
Live a life worthy of the hot baths (however rare they may be).
Live a life worthy of the messes.
Live a life worthy of the late nights.
Live a life worthy of seeing the sun rise.
Live a life worthy of the crying baby and ornery toddler than gave you both of those.
.
Live a life worthy of your calling.

Live a life worthy of being chef.
Live a life worthy of being housekeeper.
Live a life worthy of being laundress.
Live a life worthy of being taxi driver.
Live a life worthy of being personal assistant.
Live a life worthy of being teacher.
Live a life worthy of being wife.
Live a life worthy of being friend.
Live a life worthy of being missionary.
Live a life worthy of being mom.

Live a life worthy of your calling.

Don’t expect to do and be all those things perfectly. We are not perfect. Live a life worthy of those opportunities and blessings though.
God gave us all of these because He wanted us to have them. We didn’t earn them. We were blessed with them.

35 weeks (#3)

How far along?35 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 20 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Definitely

Stretch marks? This is my 3rd pregnancy. I prefer to not even pay attention to them.

Sleep: Decent. I’m pregnant and two toddlers crawl in my bed nearly every night; I don’t expect it to be fabulous.

Best moment this week: Lincoln told me several times, “Mommy, you’re the bestest ever!” and “Mommy, you’re my bestest friend!”

Movement: Does this kid ever not move?

Food cravings: Dr. Pepper (bad, bad, bad!)

Gender: don’t know

Labor Signs: Baby has dropped (Yay, I can breathe!), baby is head down, lots of Braxton Hicks contractions, and a few real contractions here and there.

Belly Button in or out? still in

What I miss: my husband

What I am looking forward to: Getting new flooring in my bedroom this weekend and taking the boys to Pumpkin Hollow!

Weekly Wisdom: No matter how desperate you get for food, do not give in to McDonald’s for breakfast. I felt yuck.

Baby’s Development:

Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that he’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in your womb, he isn’t likely to be doing somersaults anymore (Ha!) , but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.” –babycenter.com

25 weeks (#3)

I have been horrible about posting these pictures and updates this pregnancy. 😦 Thankfully we have been taking the pictures (and I manage to get them up on Facebook occasionally), but getting them put up on the blog hasn’t happened like I hoped it would. Apparently that’s what happens when you have 3 babies in 3 years! On another sad note, I realized this morning I put the shirt pictured above in the dryer, and I’m pretty sure it shrank…a lot. Pregnancy brain.

How far along? 25 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 14 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes, but by some miracle, I can actually still wear my pre-pregnancy low-rise jeans! Woohoo!

Stretch marks? no new ones

Sleep: What’s that? I think I once heard that word, about 2 1/2 years ago. 🙂

Best moment this week: Taking the boys to see Super Why Live last night

Movement: Lots

Food cravings: watermelon

Gender: don’t know

Labor Signs: nope

Belly Button in or out? still in

What I miss: the lake

What I am looking forward to: Getting new flooring in and painting our bedroom and bathroom!

Weekly Wisdom: Don’t assume locking the door will keep your 2 year old out of the bathroom.

Baby’s Development:

Let your spouse put an ear to your belly — he might be able to pick up baby’s heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving baby a healthy pink glow. Baby’s also soaking up your antibodies, getting the immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and baby will soon perfect the blink — perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.” -thebump.com

“Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn’t much more than an average rutabaga, but she’s beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she’ll start to look more and more like a newborn. She’s also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you’d now be able to discern its color and texture.” -babycenter.com

Week 16, Baby #3

I can’t believe we are already at week 16. I have been taking the “weekly belly pics” since week 12, but alas, with 2 toddlers already running around, they haven’t made it to the blog. In fact, all of them aren’t even on Facebook yet. I did get the new carseat ordered last week though. I’m slowly checking off the to do list.

A few things have changed since my last post.
First we have decided to go “team green” and find out the sex of the baby at the birth. We’re pretty excited about it. Second, we have changed from seeing an OB/GYN to seeing a midwife for my prenatal care and will be having a homebirth. More on that later, but we are definitely looking forward to the experience. No picture for now, but I’ll be taking one this weekend.

How far along? 16 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: According to the midwife’s scale, I’m up 8 pounds. Pretty sure it was only because I went to see her right after eating a huge lunch though. Most days I’m doing good to see the scale up 3 pounds.

Maternity clothes? Some, but it’s not a necessity. I’m just tired of wearing my old clothes and wanted to wear my new stuff I bought last week. I am looking forward to wearing the rest of it later.

Stretch marks? no

Sleep: decent

Best moment this week: Coming home today and hearing that Lincoln used the potty (even #2!!) for the baby sitter all day with only one accident!

Movement: none that I can feel, but he/she sure was moving around to escape the doppler today at our appointment.

Food cravings: none

Gender: no idea

Labor Signs: nope

Belly Button in or out? still in

What I miss: having a life – Work has been crazy lately.

What I am looking forward to: Vacation next weekend!!

Weekly Wisdom: A pregnant woman should consume 80-100 grams of protein per day. That’s not easy.

Milestones: none
