37 weeks

Between chasing a toddler, running a business, attempting to run a household, church activities, and a million other things, I have gotten way behind on my blogging. This does not make me happy. Actually, I have gotten behind on everything, including my thoughts. I honestly thought, until I looked at my calendar just now, that tomorrow would mark the 36 week mark for me in this pregnancy. Apparently I was a week behind, because I will actually be 37 weeks – full term! Eeeek!

So, with laundry still needing to be put away and a stack of thank you notes needing to be finished, I’ll go ahead and take a little break to update everyone on our lives and baby #2.

My most recent belly photo:

This was actually taken almost a week ago, at 36 weeks 1 day. Oh well. I’ll take another this weekend, but it may or may not make it up here.

How far along? 37 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +16 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes, and sadly my favorite Gap jeans called it quits this week and got a tear in one of the legs. I guess that’s what happens when you wear maternity clothes for almost two years.

Stretch marks? No new ones.

Sleep: Last night was good. The Boy let me sleep until 8 this morning!

Best moment this week: Hanging out at my parents’ house last night and playing with my sweet boy.

Movement: Lots!

Food cravings: none

Gender: Boy

Labor Signs: Lots of random mini contractions, and at 35 weeks I was dilated to 1 cm.

Belly Button in or out? still in

What I miss: regular clothes

What I am looking forward to: Holding my baby boy!

Weekly Wisdom: Never take your eyes off my boy. He’s a climber.

Baby’s Development:

“At week 37, your pregnancy is considered full term, meaning baby is likely to thrive after birth. Baby spends these last weeks in preparation for the outside world… meaning careful refinement of the blink, suck, inhale and exhale. Meconium, which you’ll probably find in the first diaper, is accumulating in the intestines. If (okay, as) you worry about giving birth, consider what it’s like for the little one. During the journey out of your womb, baby will produce more stress hormones than any other time in life. ” –thebump.com

“Congratulations — your baby is full term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away.

Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don’t be surprised if your baby’s hair isn’t the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.” –babycenter.com
